The EBSF_2 evaluation team has taken considerable steps in defining the test scenarios and evaluation framework.
The evaluation team and representatives of all the Project demonstrations met for a two-day working meeting. Universidad Politécnica de Madrid hosted the meeting at the Escuela de Ingenieros de Caminos, in Madrid.
The aim of the meeting was to define the framework for the overall EBSF_2 evaluation task in regard to the specific demonstrations’ impacts per priority area and ultimately in regard to the envisaged impact on the overall attractiveness of the bus. The participants discussed the performance targets to be achieved by testing the EBSF_2 technical innovations at the demo sites and agreed on a preliminary set of appropriate Key Performance Indicators to measure the degree of targets achievement. The impact of the implemented innovations will be considered from a threefold perspective by taking into consideration their efficiency, attractiveness and reliability.
Secondly, Università degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza completed the report which sets the test scenarios and validation objectives for the six technological innovations in EBSF_2.
The methodology consisted of a two-pronged approach, bottom-up through direct inquires to the demonstrations to define the technological innovations, on the other, a working method to support the assessment framework with sound scientific knowledge and effective procedures. The direct inquires have led to the creation of a knowledge base for the evaluators and a very comprehensive description of each technological innovation. Such description includes the technological innovation’s goals, the situation prior to its implementation (the no-EBSF_2 scenario) and the planned activities to implement it (EBSF_2 scenario), the test scenario and the related data collection plan (in synthesis), along with other information. A total of 32 technological innovations and 38 validation objectives per priority topic have then been identified. With this information it was then possible to create a matrix to interrelate the validation objectives and technological innovations and describe the test scenario of each technological innovation.
Capitalizing on the Madrid meeting and report on test scenarios and validation objectives, it will be possible to create the main reference of the global evaluation framework that will assess the achievement of the EBSF_2 goals.
