The EBSF_2 (European Bus System of the Future) project has been launched in June 2015 in Milan and got to work immediately afterwards. The demo teams of Barcelona, Gothenburg, London, Paris Area, Ravenna and San Sebastian have met in the last months to set up action plans and discuss the details of their tests. With the upcoming launch of the other demonstrations, the EBSF_2 project is quickly reaching its full operation.
The project will test and validate a subset of innovations for urban bus systems in 12 European cities. By investigating 6 key innovation areas (Energy Strategy and Auxiliaries, Green Driver Assistance Systems, IT Standard Introduction in existing fleets, Vehicle Design, Intelligent Garage and Predictive Maintenance, Interface between the Bus and Urban Infrastructure), it aims to improve the efficiency and attractiveness of urban buses. The new generation of bus systems designed within the project is expected to answer the future needs of cities and their residents.
